bathroom cleaning 101

Earlier this week I told you that I would try some environmentally friendly bathroom products and then let you know what I thought of them. I ended up buying Mrs. Meyers toilet cleaner in basil and the Method Tub-n-tile in Eucalyptus mint simply because I liked the smell of these products a bit better than the seventh generation cleaners.

The other item I picked up was this spa smelling candle from Aveda in lavender. 100 percent of the profits for these candles goes to Aveda's clean water program. LOVE the scent for the bathroom and at 12 dollars I feel like it's a pretty good deal- especially since it's for a good cause!

The way I like to clean a bathroom is to start from the top and work my way down. So the first thing I do is wipe down the light fixture. Next I tackle the mirror. Here's my sure fire way to clean a mirror with no streaks.

1. make sure the mirror is cool (I clean it before I turn the light on.)
2. make a bucket of sudsy dish soap~ it doesn't leave a greasy streak. Then wipe down the mirror with a rag that's been in the sudsy water and wrung out.
3. then spray the mirror with glass cleaner (I used windex~ forgot to try one of those new products) then use a squeegee to clean off the cleaner and dry with a cloth in between each stroke.

~voila~ streak free mirrors!

Next I sprayed down the tub with the tub and tile cleaner by method. LOVE the scent. And it didn't leave an oily streak which some cleaners do and that drives me crazy. My mom taught me to always rinse the tub, sink, etc. after I've cleaned it with clear water and then dry. This keeps your bathroom from having that grimy, sticky feel after it's been cleaned.

After that I do the same thing to the sink. I polish the faucets up with my drying rag and make everything sparkle.

Last I tackle the toilet bowl and toilet. I spray the cleaner on the toilet and let it sit while I scrub the bowl. I was very happy with the Mrs. Meyers toilet bowl cleaner as well. Then I wipe down the toilet rinsing my rag in the soapy water in between wipes. (don't forget to do the back and bottom) Then I wipe the floors as I make my way out of the bathroom.

One last little tip. If you throw your bath rug into the dryer while you're cleaning it will fluff right up and look brand new to place on your freshly cleaned floors. This works well in between washings.

I'm really happy with these new products! My bathroom smells fresh and a bit spa like. LOVE it! And everything is nice and sparkly! I'm sure you'll be happy with these products.

And I don't want to tell you this cuz I want to win BUT my friend is having a wonderful giveaway of environmentally safe products on her blog and you should go enter! It's a good one!

Have a fabulous weekend!
